A Day to Eat

Today felt like one of those days where all I could do was eat.  I fought my cravings hard so that I could enjoy lunch out with my office mate Sara. We had been planning to go to Pacci’s Pizzeria in Silver Spring for a very very long time, and last week we put it in our outlook calendars to go today.

So at lunch time Sara and I made the trek (albeit short) down Georgia Ave. to Pacci’s. This narrow restaurant has a beautiful outdoor seating area, tons of wine bottles on the wall and has a very inviting atmosphere to it.

I had read reviews of Pacci’s before we went and they all said good things, and I have to say that I agree. Sara and I started with an order of bruschetta al pomodoro which consisted of tomatoes, garlic, basil and evoo on top of a piece of crispy bread.

While I have been feeling like a lard-butt recently, I decided to opt out of ordering a pizza and went with a salad. I am not sure if you knew this, but it is EXTREMELY hard to pass up pizza when you are sitting in a pizzeria and the pizza not only looks, but smells delicious. Anyways, I went with Pacci’s salad which was a mixture of spinach, arugula, cherry tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, onions, cucumbers, pear and cranberries. I got the dressing on the side and only needed a little.

The salad was delicious, and I have to say that the pear added all the flavor it needed.

The day went on and I caved into some snacking so I wanted to have a nice refreshing dinner. Sticking with the tomato theme I seem to be on today, I made a tomato-basil salad which was perfect!

As you can see I had red and yellow tomatoes, some fresh basil, and I topped it all off with some salt, pepper and about 3 tbsp. balsamic vinegar. The yellow tomatoes aren’t as sweet as the red, but definitely are delicious. The basil adds a nice flavor as well, and this served as the light yet filling dish I was looking for (coming in at 0 ww points*)
